Tips and advice
The B6 highway connects Hosea Kutako International Airport with Windhoek. Although it is called a highway, it’s just a two-lane road, so take note of oncoming traffic. You will travel in a westerly direction from the airport to the city.
The B6 itself, as with many other roads in Namibia will at times have animals crossing it. Keep your eyes open and if need be, give them right of way while pulling over to the shoulder of the road.
As in South Africa, you will drive on the left hand side of the road.
While travelling, lookout for potholes. Not all of the roads, especially those in rural areas, are in the best condition. Be careful, especially if travelling at night.
Keep your international driver's license with you at all times. You may be asked for it by the local authorities, possibly at a roadblock which you will encounter often.
Consider renting a 4x4 vehicle while in the country. It will make travelling the roads of Namibia far easier, especially the gravel ones you will encounter in rural areas.
