Tips and advice
Travelling to the city centre of Gold Coast City from the airport is primarily along State Route 3. Using a GPS unit is advised.
While in residential areas, you may only travel up to 50 km/h.
Popular tourist spots such as Surfer’s Paradise are served by meter parking bays. Take note of how long you may be parked for. If you plan to spend a day at the beach, rather locate a parking garage and pay a one off fee.
Many of the Gold Coast’s top beaches and surf spots are found off the Gold Coast Highway.
The roads in the Gold Coast area, particularly along the coast, are packed with cyclists. Be aware of them.
Pedestrian traffic in these areas is also high. Rather ride slower and keep your eyes open for them, especially at night, when partygoers fill the streets.
